Inaugural Keep it Reel™ Cleanup Event

We hosted our first Keep it Reel™ Cleanup Event on August 8, 2026 welcoming over 20 volunteers ranging from 7 to 77 to clean our adopted water channel in Huntington Beach, CA.

Due to the rain and time that had passed since the last cleanup (prior to our adoption) there was at least 4″ of water covering the entire channel as we began. The first task was to clean out the existing boom to release that water so we could get to work clearing the accumulated trash.

After we got the water flowing, we were able to clear about 1,800 pounds of garbage and refuse from the channel and surrounding driveway in about 3 hours of work.
